Left Field Kombucha

Left Field Kombucha is our go to as a wine alternative on an evening.

It's a sophisticated Kombucha brewed the traditional way and I'm yet to find anyone who doesn't like these bad boys.

They have a wine like quality feel in the mouth, and the flavours remind you of a really good wine.  Which is really important for us, as we're yet to come across a good non-alcoholic wine.

We stock the full range in the shop, and we know that these Kombuchas will change your evening game forever.

  • Left Field Kombucha Oolong at Functional Drinks Club

The diva of the teahouse. It's a little sassy, notes of elderflower, with coconutty elements.  Finalist in the Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards 2019.

The No.3 Oolong kombucha is particularly good as a white wine alternative/aperitif.

It goes well with avocado and all things salad and light. Tea is as good a match with food as wine is.

  • Left Field Kombucha Yunnan Black at Functional Drinks Club

    Yunnan Black

This tea takes us back to the very beginning, to the birthplace of the first tea tree, the Yunnan province of China.

Made with only the finest ethically-sourced teas. We don't flavour. We don't spice. We just draw out the natural aromatics in excellent teas - so you can taste the real flavours.

The No.1 Yunnan Black, is an award-winning kombucha ( Great Taste Award 2017 ) and was a finalist in the Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards 2017.

  • Left Field Kombucha Sencha at Functional Drinks Club

The Great Taste Award 2019 judges said:

"What a wonderful flavour. So well balanced with fruity zesty notes along with some savoury notes which are producing a fabulous refreshing drink.

Fresh and lively, cleansing on the palate and with a burst of freshness."

The one the BBC Good Food team called "Really something special, and well worthy of a toast!"

  • Left Field Kombucha Darjeeling at Functional Drinks Club

From the foothills of the Indian Himalayas, Darjeeling teas are known for their exceptional quality and distinctive muscat grape characteristic, hence why they are called the"Champagne of Black Teas".

The No.4 Darjeeling kombucha tea is made with teas harvested just before the monsoon season.

"This is a real game changer, so lovely and smooth"

The No.4 Darjeeling kombucha tea is a refined and vine fruity kombucha. It is the one best enjoyed over breakfast before you start your day, or with cheese at the end of your day.

Founders of Left Field Kombucha at Functional Drinks Club

Meet the Founders

Established in 2016, Left Field Kombucha is a UK craft brewer of kombucha tea founded in the tea smuggling coastal town of Eyemouth in the Scottish Borders.

Here’s a little more information about us...

When we set up we found there was a huge gap in interesting tea drinks. Also, everything out there was so sugary, and was adulterated by flavourings or spices. Inspired by beer brewing and fermented foods we wanted something natural that was wholly better for us. We also wanted an alternative to an alcoholic drink or coffee which still packed a real, feel good punch… and we found KOMBUCHA.

We have always been tea lovers anyway and the chance to develop something pure, using only the finest teas, was just too hard to resist.

We then established the first kombucha brewery in Scotland  in the heart of tea smuggling; the coastal town of Eyemouth. Business grew and grew until in 2022 we outgrew our unit in Eyemouth and moved to Livingston.

We rented a unit three times the size and built in a custom fermentation room with all the drainage, plumbing and air filtration an up-and-coming drinks brand could want.

Why we Love Left Field Kombucha?

Because this is the perfect example of a Kombucha you can use as a wine alternative. You will no longer chase the bad non-alcoholic wines after tasting these.
